LEVEL – Early Beginners DAD in this class

This course is for early beginners! Think of it as a JUMP START to your playing. We will work on 5 songs total, strumming techniques, and much more. Fun will be had by all. PDF handouts will be provided.

Do you need to KILL the ROBOT? Does your strumming feel awkward, sound harsh, or just feel odd to you? We will fix it! You’ll be smooth sounding in no time. In this 3 week class we will cover some helpful exercises to use, and go over some songs. You will be able to apply this to all songs.

Class Times are Fridays 1:30-2:30PM (EST)

*Anyone who doesn’t know how to get off that melody line will benefit from this class.. Do you desire to play in a more flatpicked style but don’t know how? This is not the same class as my fiddle tunes class. This teaches you HOW to take any song from melody and play it across all 3 strings. This will really improve your arrangements, and add variety to them. BONUS – it’s super fun to play this way.

LEVEL – Mid-Beginner and UP. DAD in this class

Class times 1:30pm – 2:30pm (EST) on Wednesdays

*Mid-Beginner and up, no day 1 beginners please . We will quickly learn our scale, then move into ear work with a gentle eyes and ears approach of repeating what you hear and see. No paper provided. This is a tab free zone! If this fills up – I will add in more of this workshop.

LEVEL – Late Beginner and UP DAD in this class

Class times 3:00PM – 4:00PM EST on Thursdays

*Late beginner and up please. First we will establish good flatpicking technique. I will give you exercises to practice and we will be playing in first position across all 3 strings in this class. We will learn 3-5 fiddle tunes and increase in difficulty as we go. PDF handouts will be given.

LEVEL – Beginner and up DAD

CLASS Times – 1:30-2:30PM EST on Thursdays

Beginner and UP – In this 3 week class you will get everything you need to have success in playing Chromatic Dulcimer!

We will begin by covering our frets! We will play a bunch of beginner songs and you will get lots of helpful tips on how to play with all those extra frets. No matter if you’ve played dulcimer before or not, this crash course will get you up and running in no time flat!

Class size will be limited to 5 Students. Will offer continuing CH classes as well.

LEVEL – Mid Beginner and UP (not early beginner class)

Class Times are 3:00 – 4:00PM EST on Wednesdays

MID-Beginner and UP – MOST levels can succeed in this workshop.

We will begin with the basics of DAA and diatonic playing. We will use our fingers and a pick for the class (but this class is noter friendly as well). Week 1 we will cover our scale in multiple octaves and get some exercises to practice along with a hymn. Week 2 we will add a new hymn and new techniques. Week 3 we will cover a waltz time hymn in 3/4. We will also add more techniques. Hymns are my passion, so I hope to see you there.

LEVEL – Mid-Beginner and UP (should already know 10 songs)

DAD Tuning

Class Times – 1:30-2:30PM on Thursdays

Class for Mid Beginner and UP! You should already be comfortable playing 10 songs as a moderate speed.

We will go over techniques I use to add the sauce!! We’ll have lots of exercises to work on along with several fiddle tunes. This is not the same as my FLATPICKING workshop.

We will use a metronome in class as lot and I recommend you have either one on your phone (app) or purchase a digital one.

Get ready to zip y’all! Jams and people you play with will usually play with some speed so this will get you feeling confident to do so – ALL WHILE PLAYING SMOOTHLY.

LEVEL – Intermediate DAD

Class Times – 1:30-2:30PM on Thursdays

Intermediate players and up please. DAD

Do you have a 1.5 fret now and don’t know what to do with it? Don’t worry, we’ll get you confident with it in no time.

In this 3 week class, we’ll cover the new chords we have available, and work on songs using the 1.5 fret. Get ready for the fun!

Class Size is limited to 10 students.

This is 1 workshop, I’m offering it 2 different times. Not a continuing workshop.

LEVEL – Intermediate DAD

Class times – 1:30-2:30PM on Wednesdays

**Intermediates and up. Do you play a lot of songs already but don’t know how to make them fancier?

In this class we will work on multiple songs (you’ll get the tabs for the basic melody) and we will max each one out. I will show you how to do this so you can do it with ANY SONG you play.

I get a lot of students who tell me, ok I can play tab, what now. If that is you, then this workshop will get you moving in the right direction.

Class size is limited to 10 students. I will be offering this class more than once after May of 2025 also.

LEVEL – Late Beginner and UP – DAD

Class Times – 3:00PM – 4:00PM on Mondays

LATE BEG and up! Want to learn to play great back up at a jam or with a group?

In this 3 week workshop, you will get ALL the necessary tools to play fantastic backup! We will take 3 common jam tunes and learn our chords. Then you will learn a bunch of different ways to back up the song.

We’ll use recordings of me playing the melody of the song and play backup over the top of them! At the end of each weeks lesson, I’ll play through the melody only several times so you can use the video to polish your newly learned back up skills.
