Yeah, I’m just like everyone else I want to pick up my banjo(or dulcimer) and just go flying along at 125 bpm. I found out real quick last Thursday night at a campground it doesn’t work that way.ย A couple of acquaintances found out I brought my banjo and insisted I get it out(happy to actually ๐).ย Well there I go into my favorite song as fast as I can hammer it out; sounded AWFUL. Then they asked if I knew anything we could sing to. So off into I’ll fly away; this worked ok, AFTER I slowed down, haha.
So now I’m back to listening to Mandy(why I stopped, who knows); always start your practice with your songs, slowly.ย If I’m ever in that situation again(hope I am) I’m gonna play through a song or two real slow and maybe go up and down the G scale a few times.

Well, I’ve been SUPER busy and haven’t really started, haha! I can play the chords and sing it on banjo though so we’ll see.ย I’m actually hoping to have it good enough to play a slow break for someone live next Friday ๐

Every so often we all have to back to the mountain, in this Mandyโs pearls of wisdom ๐ >>> my nemesis isโ only a few songs in your bag (7?). I want to play every EVERY songs when she posts it ๐. REALITY gets me most of the time to narrow my attention to learn one or 2 new songs at a time. Now I have my tunes that I play at the campsite while my husbands cooks dinner, and I sound okay. At least I donโt sour dinner.

Boy I know how that is; every new banjo song she puts up I want to learn! If we pay attentions she hints that we should really only learn a handful of songs a year and really only keep 20 or so that we KNOW.

Not that I’m aware of, I’d love to go myself, but it’s just not in the cards this year. Played cowboy last weekend and then again next weekend. Actually this weekend is the only time one I’ll be at home this whole month(My wife and I are going ghost hunting in Gatlinburg the last weekend).

It was on my calendar and even had campsite but had to cancel plans a couple of weeks ago due to family commitments not allowing travel that far ๐๐โน๏ธ๐๐ฉ

When and where is the festival? I am going to be in Mt View AR Nov 11 – 14. Hope to go to the dulcimer shoppe. I would really like one of those flatwaters.
Also, if I remember right, I thought I read on one of Mandy’s post to not learn more then 10 songs a year. Or something like that.
So I’m trying to stick to my little list of songs and get smoother at those. It’s hard to stay patient with the process.
My 1st dulcaversary is Dec 18th.
