You win big points with me John! I love every single thing the Trio has done. I had those cassette tapes when I was young, then I bought the cd’s later. Those 3 gals have done so much for music, songwriting, and even rock (Linda). Favorites by each – Anything Dolly has ever done, LOL, Emmylou – Red Dirt Girl , Linda – Blue Bayou.

Me too Mandy! Just love them, together or on their own. Like you, have my whole life. How about Dolly’s finger picking! She’s so talented!
Love these videos from Dolly’s TV show back in the 70’s. Amazing! Linda, just about the time her career was taking off.

Oh yes don’t forget Dolly’s show in the 80’s also! Haha. I adore Dolly like no one else could ever imagine actually. I could never meet her I’d be a complete bawling mess! Haha.
Dolly’s ability to play multiple instruments quite well has always been an inspiration to me also. She has the voice of an angel (at least that’s what I think they’ll sound like) .
I was about 7 or so when I just latched on to everything she’d ever done. Haha I’d go around singing Dolly Parton songs, not normal teen pop music as much, haha but she did have some pop songs. I got to see her in concert when I was 13. I could barely see her she was so far away but there was a big screen and I just sat there and cried and smiled the whole time. Haha.
Not even mentioning her songwriting!!!
I could talk about Dolly all day long. Haha. I’ve been to Dollywood probably 10 times and I was only able to go into the museum one time – haha because Jon wanted to drag me outta there. I spent probably 2 hours in there and cried multiple times, hahahah. SAP!!

Hi Mandy, That’s such nice story, about you and Dolly. She’s amazing, I saw the documentary on Netflix, she’s what they call a prodigy I think. Like you said, playing all the instruments, playing banjo with those long nails, lol. For me it was Linda, since way back. Gaining even more respect for how she’s handled her health issues, with such grace. You know Linda was pushed to the Rock, her real love was just singing the quiet songs written by her friends. Emmy is so great. She’s an icon now herself. Love how they’ve always played on each others records, you hear the back up vocals. Thanks for sharing the link. I just love the traditional and gospel country music. Hey Mandy I heard something new yesterday, ” Wish you were here” by Christine McVie with Fleetwood Mac. Always liked Christine’s vocals. Really enjoying Banjolemonade. Speaking for all of us I think, please keep going. Keep us playing or what I call for me” playing at it”. Can’t image now not having you, the forum, and and all the great stuff! Love playing at the Merlin and Banjo. And probably more vital, keep inspiring us to be better people. You are reaching people, don’t ever worry about that.

Oh yes I was saddened to hear of Linda’s illness and that she could no longer sing!
Haven’t heard that by Christine. I know of Stevie Nicks and a lot of their songs, but I don’t hear much new music. Thank you for your kind words. I’ll keep going as long as the good Lord has me doing this for sure. ❤️

That was so nice! I will definitely listen to this album. Thanks for sharing…I grew up in the 50’s and 60’s in the metropolitan Detroit area and have had very little exposure to Country Music. I’m catching up on a lot I missed out on. I knew Linda as rock and roll, but my Dad gave me an LP of her singing Nelson Riddle songs which I’ve enjoyed for years. I went to see her perform these in Detroit Opera House. Emmy Lou sang on a Bob Dylan album and I just loved the two of them together. Dolly is loved by all. I’m looking forward listening to the Trio!

Oh now Charlene you are just right where you need to be. Dolly, Emmylou, Linda! Next go for Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, and George Jones (just to name a few). Oh I can talk classic country with you for a good while. I don’t go back quite as far as Hank Williams Sr. but I sure know some Junior!

Wow I bet that John Denver concert was great! Dolly was my first concert. I never knew she had a Rhinestone Dulcimer. I’ve probably seen her play it on tv but didn’t realize it was jeweled. That concert I went to though she did play a mandolin that Ricky Skaggs had made for her and it was slam full of rhinestones! Haha.

Now if you want the for REAL truth about why I ever wanted to play the banjo here it is right there. Applejack! I used to run around at about 7 years old singing that and wanting to play a banjo someday! Haha

HAHAH – I don’t think so! I can’t do justice singing anything she does. I’ve actually not picked it out, but it is what got me interested in banjo.
