Thanks John!
Hey Michelle and Mike – can you do me a favor and go look in my new lesson – Hark the Herald Chromatic Dulcimer for me please? See if you can easily play those 2 videos on any of your devices.
I’m trying to move all my videos off youtube, but it’s gonna take time and I want to verify that this is working for you also. Please let us know how that goes.
Good stuff! Beth – yeah I wouldn’t recommend to always use a metronome. Just sometimes, a few times a week for 10 minutes or so each time. Some folks LOVE the metronome, others not so much, but it is an important practice tool. Keeps ya honest about timing as well of course.
Have fun!
Hey Beth, sorry I missed this post. Let us know if you have any further questions. I do have a few video lessons on how to use strum machine. Just type in Strum Machine up at the search bar after clicking on lessons.

Hey Pat, I’m glad you are enjoying strum machine! I love it. You can do sort of a boom chuck thing, Yep root then strum for the most part if you want to do it that way. I do have some strumming videos if you check under lessons. I like to hit the bass string by itself on the way back a lot. I really vary it up though. But in 4/4 time for sure just revert back to a boom chuck sort of thing. Or if 3/4 – boom chuck chuck I guess you’d call it. Or boom chuck-a chuck-a with that back bass. Have fun.
Hey John, glad you enjoyed it!
I’m super excited for my SHAPE NOTES class today!!! I SO want to show people how to easily UNLOCK hymns from hymnals.
Added the 2 FREE member only workshops for April on the calendar.
WOW thanks for the pictures. I guess I didn’t realize the strings would be so far spaced apart. Do you strum it with a pick? And how is it noted? Very interesting!
Hey Carl! Yes I know that instrument. Seen it before on videos but have never played one. Very neat!! Yes any of my DAA material can be played with a noter as well. Do you have a noter? I suggest trying out multiple noters (made of different materials) to find one you like. You will want a certain shape, size, etc.
Best to you on your upcoming surgery! God bless you.
Please do post pics of the scheitholt.
Hey Jane! For all my 1 hour workshops – you can purchase it anytime and view it anytime also. I will stream it live at the said day and time, but you will get the link (and materials) and be able to view the video for as long as you wish. Watch it over and over again. You just won’t see it LIVE as it’s being recorded.
Ok so I went in as admin and logged in under your account. Clicked your avatar pic, then clicked on Favorites. Everything showed up and works fine on my end.
So I suggest you Log Out – then log back in again. Maybe some update on your end (or my end) did something. Let me know if it is still messed up and I can get Jason to look at it.
Uh oh!! Lemme check and see what I can do Jane. Not good.
Hey Joanne, the best tip I can give is that the speed in which you “hammer” your finger down makes a difference. And it doesn’t take tons of pressure. As an exercise to work with you can try this. Press down the 2nd fret with your middle finger, then pluck that note and hammer down onto the 3rd fret with your index finger. The index finger is usually stronger than our other fingers. Also do this one – press down the 2nd fret with your ring finger, then hammer with your index onto the 4th fret.
You can work your pull off’s right after doing the hammer on. And if you don’t hear 2 notes with one pluck of the string something isn’t right. To help much more I’d need to see you. You can do it!
